Brazil wants to depend less on its neighbors for gas
SAEM – Inaugurating Brazil’s second 14 million cu m/day regasification terminal at Guanabara Bay, located next door to Rio de Janairo, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva gives a stern warning: “We will not depend on anyone’s good will” for gas supplies.
Petrobras inaugurated last year its first-ever regasification terminal in Pecem, located in the northeast Brazilian state of Ceara. The capacity of the LNG terminal is 7 million cu m/day.
Without naming any countries, Lula pointed the finger at two countries that supply Brazil with pipped gas: Bolivia and to a lesser extent Argentina.
Here is the videoclip in Portuguese. The first 48 seconds is silent with images of the regas terminal.
